Finally, Something to Make Life Easier

These are the new shopping carts at Meijer. For the cost of $1.00, I can rent a few moments peace and quiet while grocery shopping. Okay, so maybe it's not quiet, but there generally isn't much fussing and that is peaceful.

The new carts feature tv's that play either The Wiggles, Bob the Builder or if you're really really desperate, Barney. Emily loves the Wiggles, so for about 45 minutes to an hour, she gets to watch them while I shop. The $1.00 rental fee might seem steep just for a cart, but the proceeds benefit Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis and mom, right here at home, so it's a win-win. At least until the only cart available is Barney....

OH! MY! Can we come down and shop with you??? LOL If they get those at "our" Meijers up here, I may just start shopping there! *wink*

I have a question, we have Meijer's grocery stores here in Columbus. Do they require a membership to shop there or are they just like a normal store where anyone can shop?

Beth,

Come down and shop any time. They have the carts in the two main Meijer stores close to us so maybe they will be coming soone to you too. "My" Meijer isn't too far from you though...

Janice,

Meijer stores are very similar to Walmart. No membership is required. I think they're generally a little more expensive than Walmart and less than Target, but sometimes their sales (on food in particular) make it a better deal than Walmart. Give it a shot!

I have an off topic question, Christina.

I've been watching Emily's birthday scroll for some time now.

Was Emily born on September 13th? My son Christopher was born on September 14 and I've been watching for so long trying to figure out what day is her birthday.

Janice,

Emily was born on Sept. 15th. She was due on the 6th (Labor Day that year, no joke) and was scheduled to be induced on the 16th. So, she made us wait almost two weeks after she was "due" but still came on her own terms.

Quite a fitting start for such a strong-willed little gal!

Would the problem with Barney be that Emily wouldn't want to watch him, or would it be that you would have to hear him? Or would it be both, you know, the lose-lose situation?

Off by a day!
I was due on Labor Day as well! (September 1st in 1985)

He was 2 weeks late too, but they took him on a Saturday night, an emergency C-section. He too is strong willed.

Skyepuppy,

Mostly, the problem would be that I would have to listen to that dopey dinosaur! I don't know if Emily would like him or not, but we've almost made it out of the toddler/dino-infatuation stage, so I don't plan on introducing him, well...ever!

Much like the Teletubbies, there are some things that parents just shouldn't have to endure!

Janice,

Mid-September must be a good time for strong-willed kids to be born.

That is so cool. We have grocery stores with the "Little Tykes" type shopping carts where we can put them inside like that and they pretend to be driving... but it doesn't have videos. My son ws always good at the grocery store, so I'm hoping my daughter will be too. We don't have Meijers here.
