Rosie O'Donell's "View" of Christianity

I have never been a big fan of Rosie O'Donell, but I can guarantee that I will never watch, read or support anything she has a part in ever again. Her latest comments are absolutely infuriating...so much so that I really don't have the words to adequately express how I feel right now. Perhaps I should cool down first, but I don't think time will make her comments any less maddening.

According to a message from the American Family Association, Rosie O'Donell made the following comment on ABC's "The View" this week:

" 'Radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam in a country like America where we have separation of church and state,' O'Donnell said. She had been saying that America was attacked 'not by a nation.' She continued: 'And as a result of the attack and the killing of 3,000 innocent people, we invaded two countries and killed innocent people.' Even her liberal co-hosts were shocked by her comments. "

The fact that even the other very liberal co-hosts of "The View" were shocked by her comments is pretty amazing. Joy Behar, who is neither conservative nor Republican, nor a supporter of this administration disagreed with O'Donell. She differentiated between the muslim terrorists and Christians by pointing out one major difference: Christians are not trying to kill anyone, much less commit mass murder, as a part of their faith. Radical muslims are. She said, " 'This group (radical Muslims) is threatening to kill us.' Replied O'Donnell: 'No, but we are bombing innocent people in other countries. True or false?' "

Ummm...FALSE, Rosie! The United States of America is not off on a killing spree of innocent civilians, nor is it doing any killing in the name of Christ. The U.S. is defending itself against terrorism by seeking out muslim terrorists and capturing those they can and killing those who will not be captured, all while doing more than they sometimes should and thus putting the lives of our men and women in uniform at great risk, to avoid innocent civilian casualties. Meanwhile, the muslim terrorists routinely kill innocent civilians and hide behind women and children and in mosques in order to make their capture far more difficult.

When was the last time a Christian group did that, Rosie?

According to the AFA message, neither O'Donell nor ABC has apologized for the comments. Nor do I expect them to. After all, it's always open season on Christianity. Still, I will be emailing ABC to express my outrage at the comments and demand an apology, at least from ABC. I don't care if Rosie apologizes or not...she obviously believes what she says, so any apology would be empty.

You have defined the situation so well, that I am even madder than I was when I first heard about it.

Thank you.

I heard the ignorant comments on Laura Ingraham's show. The woman is so ignorant of the fact that she and her lifestyle would never be tolerated by the very "folks" she's comparing the United States and our military to!
She and her "life mate" would be starring in a jihadi snuff film if she were in an islamic country!
Outstanding Christina!

I couldn't agree more!

But ... her comments didn't cause Christians to burn a "Rosie" effigy in the streets, then again it's not Sunday yet.

Oh never mind, that's the muslims who get all worked up after Friday prayers, file out of the mosque in a crazed frenzy and reap destruction in their wake.

Good point JT, she needs a 4 week vacation in Saudi Arabia!

Great post Christina!

That Rosie odonell needs to sew her racial mouth shut. I am plain tired of so-called comedians that make fun of religion, to race to language other than english.

She is white trash and should be removed from the screens. Barbara walters would be wise to drop the bitch from her show - "The View".

Personally there is nothing really fun about her - she is physically repulsive and should lose that ton of fat she carries around with her and her white racial mind should be sanitized from further insults to other religion, race language etc. She is the typical tunnel vision of most mind sets in middle america!

I am not anywhere near liberal, nor do I support the views of Rosie Odonell, however, When she made the comment that radical christianity is as dangerous as radical islam, I couldn't agree more.
When abortion clinics are blown up, when con-artists parading themselves as evangilist take money from people, or when church leaders live secret lives that include drugs and other behaviors that they themselves preach against, when all these things happen people say HA HA HA Born Again Christians, or christians are hypercrits, they are nutt jobs ect ect ect.

Not only do they give a bad name to christianity because it is a radical sect and does not represent true born again christians. Although I believe in my faith, I can see that not evry muslim out there wants Americans dead, and that these extremsit, however dangerous they may be, do not represent all muslims. I do however, feel they all need Christ.

As far as her comments on the envations of Iraq and afganistan,
I supported Bush and I do feel that he got really stuck with issues form 8 yrs of Clinton kissing butt the the world and allowing boundaries to be crossed that were unexceptable, with no reponse. This to me is equivelent to allowing a teenager to run a rampage or cross boundaries with out consequences- When our embassy was invaded- no response, when the USS Cole was attacked- no response, the list goes on and on
The result was the preception that American was weak and had lost it's nerve, the result from that wasthe world trade center.
Bush had to respond- the world was watching- I get that, Sadam Hussain was an issue to American saftey- I get that too, However, look at us now
We spent billions of dollars bombing caves? w no Bin Laden capture
Now this mess in Iraq- Sadam was a threat to us yes, however he stabilized Iran- They had been at war for so many years and even though in the past we had issues with Iran, they werre not a current threat
Now the President of Iraq is a major threat to the US. He is a polsih polition with two facces- the one you see in his American interviews and the one you see on middle eatern televison. Death to AMerica- Bush the Satan we must bring the infideles down- the infideles by the way are us- the Americans and the Jews too.
Iraq does not need nuclear technology as an energy source- they are sitting on enough oil to go on for centuries. In 2 yrs they will have the technolgy to have nukes that can not only reach Israel, but every European Major City- and not long after that they will have the technolgy to reach the eastern sea board of the US
So who was more of a threat? By the way do your reaserch, inform yourself this is not my opinion- the nukes and his campagin against the US
I support the troops, I get why Bush did what he did but if you understand the facts that you will not find reported on main stream media, although I am no fan of Rosie, her comment isn't far off base. maybe poorly stated, and not explained. Did we get ahead by bombing caves? Has the invasion of Iraq helped us? The answer our goverment came up with was no-
it isnt unamerican to see where our country errors- In honesty regardless of what we did, we would have had a problem- Isay that the true error was the 8 yrs Clinton was in office beinga politian and not a leader of our country and now sadly we are dealing with the result of lack of leadership

I can't believe Barbara Walters is allowing Rosie to continue insulting and bad-mouthing people, religions, etc. There's a difference between someones view and insulting and creating hostility. If the View's rating have gone up recently, it's only to because of this thing with Mr. Trump. But it will die out and the View will lose many audience. Rosie should mind her business and not get into everything that comes out on the news. She thinks she is cute and smart. She is not only a bad example to the younger viewers but to her children too. Not making Barbara look good, can't believe insulting people is OK with Barbara. I have a different "View" on Barbara now!
